A Verbier Must! Cuckoo’s Nest
Cuckoo’s Nest
Hands down, my favorite meal of the trip! Let me tell you why..I really had no idea at the place, but this was our first lunch in Verbier and first (non airport) meal of our trip!
I have a thing for cuckoo clocks anyways, my great-grandpa used to make them, so I was already hooked from the entrance and the name. It was just too cute! Everything in Switzerland is just too cute, I will apologize now, as that became my phrase of the trip!
The second we walked in, the entire place smelt of fondue. Cheese fondue. Kirk can only handle so much melted cheese smells (story for another time), so we followed the waiter outside to the deck, which being surrounded by the mountains, is where we are wanted to be anyways. Where everyone wants to be.
The views here are remarkable. So good it's almost not real. Each seat have blankets there for your use, as your in the middle of the alps, outside, so it can get chilly. Didn't bring sunglasses, not to worry, they have hats available as well to keep the sun out of your eyes. So we sat down, and quickly got lost in the panoramic view of the mountains. Needless to say, this is where time stops and before you know it, you've just been at lunch for 2 hours.
Here we indulged in the quail, salad and the meat fondue. This was absolutely delicious! Various meats and cuts available, thinly sliced, and then you dip and cook them yourselves in the fondue pot filled with a seasoned steaming broth. Of course, a plethora of sauces to dip them in once cooked. So amazing! We sipped, dipped and dazed off into the alps.
Highly recommend visiting this place if in Verbier!
