Verbier: Apres Ski
Apres Ski
For those of you that aren't familiar with Apres Ski, it means, After Ski. Anything after ski; clothes, places, but especially drinks. Apres Ski is mostly referred to as post mountain drinks..or as most people refer to it..Happy Hour. But Apres Ski starts from the time you get off the mountain (or sometimes on the slopes) and pretty normal to still find people partying at 9pm in their ski pants and boots!
I'm not sure where Apres Ski started, but I'm sure it had to be in the Swiss Alps! The Alps of course are the epi-center of the world for skiing, so naturally people ski hard, and party harder. So, of course it makes sense to start that party the second you get off the mountain, your legs are on fire and you've been ready for a drink for over and hour!
In Verbier, it's hard to walk too far without finding an Apres Ski bar, but here are a few of my favorites: For the upscale, craft cocktails and beer, head to Vie Montagne, if you can, get a reservation for dinner. Pretty popular, so books up quickly, but great place and location. Don't leave town with at least stopping once at the Farinet. Their motto, Go Hard or Go Home, which is quite fitting for Verbier. This place knows how to party hard. Le Cheval, always a great spot. What you might think of as a local Bar, but good food, music, service whether your stopping for a G&T after the hill or a late night cap after dinner. Expérimental Chalet, fairly new bar, and a little off the beaten path, but totally worth it! Also a hotel (I tried, they were fully booked-looked amazing) but great decor, drinks and service, would absolutely go back-hopefully to stay!
