Kiki's- Off the Beaten Path

I've never seen anything like it, and may never like that again. Was a great find! Tucked in a remote area of the island of Mykonos, lies the most traditional greek tavern, that's completely off the grid. The semi-indoor/outdoor veranda, is built in stone and wraps around the surroundings of the hillside. With trees growing in the middle of the patio, it provides cover for the outside building. With no electricity, everything is cooked by a brick oven, which adds to the flavors and the whole ambiance of the place.

You have to know where your going, in order to get there. Completely unmarked, its not only off the grid electrically speaking, but literally off the grid There aren't any signs, on the building or anywhere. The owner greets you, tells you there's wine and water and take a seat. No clues on how long the wait will be, but judging by looking at everyone sitting around, I knew it would be worth the wait. Down below the restaurant, there's a little private beach where you can't wait, that looks out into a little bay.

Serving all traditional greek food, it seemed like it would have some staples, but the menu was fairly elaborate by looking at it and the extent of the dishes that were being served around us. Everything from Tzaziki, fresh homemade bread, salads and various sea foods. If I could recommend anything on the menu, it would be the langostine shrimp. The flavors and tenderness of the shrimp, were absolutely amazing and some of the best Ive ever had.

Great place if you are looking for that great greek vibe and traditional food. Incredibly amazing and likely our best meal in Mykonos.
